To reconcile an MCA wallet, start with the opening balance for the period, add net payments received, subtract capital deployed into new deals and any withdrawals, and compare the result with the balance the funder reports. If the two numbers differ, the gap is a reconciliation difference to verify with the funding platform — not automatically an error.
The reconciliation formula
- Starting balance (first day of the month)
- + Payments received, after funder fees
- − Capital deployed into new deals
- − Withdrawals or distributions
- +/− Other recorded activity (adjustments, refunds)
- = Expected ending balance, compared with the reported wallet balance
Worked example
A wallet starts the month at $50,000, collects $22,000 net of fees, funds $30,000 of new deals and has no withdrawals. The expected balance is $42,000. If the portal shows $40,500, there is a $1,500 difference that needs review — often an unrecorded distribution, a fee charged at funding, or a timing difference.
Common causes of a difference
- Automatic distributions or withdrawals not yet recorded.
- Fees taken at funding rather than from collections.
- Payments posted after the export was pulled.
- Duplicate or missing rows in a CSV export.
How MCA Dash helps
MCA Dash runs this check for each wallet and month and shows a small alert with the difference, where it appears and what to confirm with the funder. It flags potential discrepancies for review; it does not judge whether the funder made an error.
